Belfast Wastewater & Treatment Works

Belfast Wastewater Treatment Works sits on the North Side of the Herdman Channel in the docks area of Belfast.The current Activated sludge plant was completed in 1999 and serves a Population Equivalent (PE) of circa 400,000.

This tour, led by Peter Neeson Belfast WwTW site Manager, and Mark Consiglia East Area Manager will begin with an overview of the site after which you will be guided around the various stages of the treatment process finishing with a visit to the Terminal Pumping Station which handles flows from Belfast Storm Tunnel.

Accessibility : There is no wheelchair accessibility. The tour involves a number of staircases and use of elevated walkways. Hi Vis vests and hard hats will be provided. Safety footwear, if available, should be worn. Otherwise, strong shoes or boots would be advisable.
