Originally constructed speculatively as a call centre office shell Clare House was in 2006 was fitted out in accordance with the Northern Ireland Civil Service (NICS) Workplace 2010 standards for use as NICS offices. It was purchased by the Northern Ireland Executive in May 2015 and is now the headquarters of the Department of Finance.
It accommodates the Minister of Finance as well as the Department of Finance Permanent Secretary and up to 400 other staff.
As a flagship project for the Workplace 2010 standards Clare House is an example of modern Civil Service accommodation where all staff (including the Permanent Secretary) work in high density open plan accommodation.
The building has hot desks, breakout areas, quiet rooms, meeting rooms and a staff restaurant/café.
