UNFORTUNATELY THIS EXHIBITION IS POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
Portview Trade Centre was originally known as Strand Mill, which spun flax until 1983. The building was listed Grade B by NIEA earlier this year, and internally retains many original features. The Mill is currently occupied by a wide range of businesses; the typically tall, well lit spaces, that are characteristic of the building support enterprises as wide ranging as a dance studio and a craft brewery.
Hall McKnight Architects have occupied space at Strand Mill since 2006; a practice based in Belfast, but working internationally, Hall McKnight are the only architects from Northern Ireland to have been awarded the AAI Downes Medal, the most prestigious award in Irish Architecture.
This event involves a presentation of their first ever exhibition in a vacant floor of the Mill, which has views across to Belfast City Centre and the docks. The exhibition will present the work of the practice, both in terms of completed projects, but also the drawings, models and digital maquettes that are both the product and tools of their design process.
