The project is to house Raidió Fàilte – a community-based Irish language station – in a purpose built 4 storey ‘radio house’ at the junction of the Falls Road and the Westlink motorway.
The site has been vacant since the construction of the motorway and is bounded to the rear by the 2 storey dwellings in the Divis neighbourhood.Entrance to the building is directly from the Falls Road via a small walled courtyard into an open public ground floor space that will also open to another garden. The ground floor room will contain archive facilities and host performances and events. The radio broadcasting studios are all on the upper floors with an upper floor recording studio and open loggia overlooking the city.
By end-October the building’s structure and brick enclosure will be complete and the key spaces will be accessible for viewing.
The contractor will join us for the tour.
