The Award winning St Brigid’s Church was the result of an RSUA Design Competition held in 1990 from which Kennedy FitzGerald & Associates were selected.
The assessors noted that the design achieved “an excellent balance of form and purpose and a building which has a simple hall section, most elegantly detailed, clearly a calm and comfortable place to be, the roof forming a uniting canopy above ministers and congregation”.
Reinterpretation of the traditional plan form to contemporary needs, together with the incorporation of warm textured materials and artworks from all over Ireland bring a human scale to the building.
Thirty years on the Church in its mature landscaped setting is an attractive and peaceful place in this part of the City.
Joe Fitzgerald and Paddy Acheson who worked on the project will be in the building for the afternoon so his is a really unique opportunity to visit and have a chat with them.
